I think these kids have probably been exposed to porn with and without seeking it out which makes them less interested in sex in media.

not sure how old you are, but I'm 33 and the only reason I ever saw stuff like that was because my parents had cable lol. I don't remember anything like that ever being on broadcast tv! so not only would you have to have cable to see those things, but you'd have to have access to a tv that was relatively private. as opposed to now, most kids have a cell phone at a young age that has internet access, plus it's way more likely most (if not all) of their peers have that same access.

damn canada! I definitely saw that kind of stuff but only on cable channels. I will say though, none of it was like the porn that's easily accessible today. it's a very different landscape today

oh definitely, I'm not saying it wasn't accessible at all! just that it's waaaaaay more accessible today and the type of porn that kids have access to is a lot more violent and graphic than it used to be.

also ya I had the internet growing up and a computer, but that was because my mom worked for microsoft and got a bunch of shit for free from them. a lot of my peers didn't have the internet at home or if they did it was a family computer that was tightly controlled. just my experience tho!

Yeah, kids at my niece’s school regularly get suspended for showing hardcore porn to others on their phones.

I think the lack of interest definitely has to do with the violent kind of porn these young people now associate with sex.

I know that I'm probably going to sound like a weird prude for saying this, but I always felt like unavoidable sexual exposure to minors should be a crime we take more seriously. I remember being 11 years old on AOL when I saw my first naked man. In hindsight, the opportunity to choose when I was ready for that was taken from me. Now I can't scroll through a trend on twitter without seeing hardcore butthole sex on my screen in between memes and news articles.

It just seems weird that if someone forced a kid to watch them have sex in real life, they would be thrown in jail, but purposely spamming unrelated topics with videos of your dick is just fine.

I feel like comment on many levels especially "the opportunity to choose when I was ready for that was taken from me." I hardly talk about this because I don't want to come off prudish but the amount of unprovoked porn on twitter is crazy. Gone are the days where kids have their own section of the internet, so it disgusts me to think that there are young young kids being exposed to that.

I still remember the first explicit photo I saw when I was 12 and cruising on AOL with my friends. Going from secretly flipping through the victoria's secret catalog that came in the mail to seeing a woman literally shitting on a man was a cruel way to be introduced to "adult sex." You're absolutely right with everything in this comment.
