32x5: Most Memorable Year The 10 remaining couples take a moment to reminisce as they perform dances inspired by a pivotal year that held great significance in their lives. Former pros Maks Chmerkovskiy, Kym Johnson-Herjavec, Tony Dovolani, Anna Trebunskaya, Edyta Śliwińska, Karina Smirnoff, Louis van Amstel, and Mark Ballas return for a tribute to former head judge Len Goodman who passed away in April.
Cheryl Burke said she was not invited back for the Len tribute. This week she appeared on Chris Harrison's podcast to talk about when she wanted to be on The Bachelorette. The show's producers told her that Harrison called her "a sloppy drunk" and vetoed having her become the next bachelorette. Chris said that although sometimes the show's creator Mike Fleiss would ask his opinion on potential bachelors/bachelorettes, he did not have the power to decide who would ultimately be cast.
Tom Bergeron appeared on Cheryl's podcast this week and talked about the betrayal that led to him leaving the show. He said in 2019, he met with two different DWTS producers separately and advised them not to cast anyone political on the next season due to the upcoming election. He said the show should be a two hour escape from the current divisiveness. They agreed with him but a few weeks later, the cast list was announced and included Sean Spicer. He said he would have reacted the same way if they had cast Hilary Clinton, whom he voted for. You can hear the pertinent clips here:
