If a parent with child books two adjacent seats, the option is to either to let their child board alone first on the window seat and try to put the luggage in the overhead bin alone or to board first, leaving the child behind to board later alone? 😅

I'd assume that children have to board with their present legal guardian if they are still minors.

I assume this won't change the "families will small children or people who need more time may board first" thing

This was not an intelligent comment.

It is?! I’ve travelled on Air France, BA, TAP and Lufthansa and I’ve never seen it happen - should they be doing it?

it very much is
Many parents like myself don't do it cause waiting 30+ minutes in the plane for it to board with a kid it way worse than watching the other plane take of
But it's very much a thing
Parents with kids under 5 (even without stoller) have priority bording

This is so weird. I’ve literally never seen this happen. It makes sense and I agree with it, I’ve just never seen it. Unless the child is in a stroller/wheelchair they’ve just been boarding with everyone else.

I've done it a couple times and it wasn't a good idea honestly (unless it's a very late flight)

Edit: my latest flight was with easy jet and it's on their website: "If you’re travelling with children under 5, we’ll board you early"
Some company only allow it for kids under 2 but priority boarding is very much a thing

No. I like how where I've been in the EU and Eastern Europe and Canada, kids have to adjust to many parts of adult life bc they spend so much more time in the adult world than the child one.

That way they learn how to behave (well and respectfully) in restaurants and other public settings with adults. Nothing like mirroring as a teaching method.

And I had no issues boarding a 4 and 5 y/o eight times to fly overseas.

If he was a baby I would have needed help, but he was grown enough to know how to walk to a seat and sit in it after we had talked all about how boarding works and how airplanes work, etc. We even practiced.

It's crazy to see parents not prepare for and not tell their kids about new and anxiety-inducing situations. They don't rehearse new situations with their kids either and then get mad when their kids get upset at something new and scary.
