This year's MTV Europe Music Awards that were to be held in Paris have been cancelled due to security concerns over the Israel-Palestine crisis. I can't find a tweet for the Daily Mail article, but they say that the terror level in France is at its highest after a teacher was murdered and another attack was foiled. Yesterday six airports were evacuated following threats.

This year's performers were supposed to include Jung Kook of BTS, Leigh Anne of Little Mix, and Rema. Apparently US artists were reluctant to appear. Voting will remain open though and the EMAs will return next year in November 2024.

A spokesperson for Paramount Global says "Given the volatility of world events, we have decided not to move forward with the 2023 MTV EMAs out of an abundance of caution for the thousands of employees, crew members, artists, fans, and partners who travel from all corners of the world to bring the show to life. The MTV EMAs are an annual celebration of global music. As we watch the devastating events in Israel and Gaza continue to unfold, this does not feel like a moment for a global celebration. "
