The show was so cute but I wish it had some sort of resolution? I didn’t exactly like how it’s in reverse order

You're definitely not alone on that - I think the lack of a clear resolution is one of the many reasons it didn't do well when it first premiered in 1981.

Idk if it helped me that I knew going in that it was set up in reverse, but I adored this particular production off-Broadway (and we even had Mary's understudy). Hoping I get the chance to see it again.

Merrily is one of those shows that plot wise appeals to Sondheim's brain and select others, but everyone else it was lost on.

they did it around 20 years ago at my college, but i don't remember much..I have to see it again. I think I remember the reverse part and it showing how the friendships changed over the years right?
