i feel like "justin wishes britney nothing but the best. while it has been many years, he continues to support her from a distance." or something would have been far better

"focus on their own family" "continue to bring up the past" come off terribly IMO. it's britney's own history and story, and part of her growth and evolution has been finding a way to stand up and speak for herself. i can understand on a human level that if anyone's ex from 20 years ago started to tell tales, it's probably fairly appropriate to be like "hey, leave me out of this it's been decades"....but even if that's a reasonable internal reaction, this is a terrible way to put it from a PR point of view IMO.
