Matthew Vaughn quit directing ‘X-MEN: THE LAST STAND’ after execs wrote a scene to trick Halle Berry into signing on.

i’m still furious that fanboys of singer and whedon alike try to blame halle for the creative shortcomings of their sex pest kings

(singer fans, for halle having the audacity to stand up to him for being inebriated on set and almost killing hugh jackman - she wasn’t the only one, btw, but weird how she got all the flack for it; whedon, because he blamed her for his stupid ass toad lightning etc “zinger” from x1 flopping)

i hope she actually gets her moment in deadpool 3 and it’s just not more of the wolverine/xavier/magneto/jean show

I remember seeing The Last Stand in theaters and being so excited for it (welp). I haven't seen it in ages, but I distinctly remember feeling uncomfortable as a teen girl at the weird energy it had towards women - "I'm the juggernaut, b*tch", the treatment of Jean Grey's character, etc. So interesting to look back now and understand how Ratner infused his own energy into it. Obviously Singer is a monster, as we all know. I just don't really remember the first two having quite that same misogynistic edge.

Anyway, this is totally effed up and Halle Berry got shafted!

as much as i have a lot of nostalgia and love for the the first two movies, they are still pretty misogynistic, especially in comparison to the cartoon and even comics (see: how powerhouses like rogue and storm are treated like damsels and wallpaper respectively; and as much as i love rebecca’s performance, it still grinds that mystique is suddenly magneto’s naked henchman instead of running the brotherhood on her own), but x3 is mean spirited af and punishes almost every single female character except for kitty (and elliot page was still being treated like garbage bts, so even onscreen favoritism didn’t help him in escaping ratner’s wrath)
