I haven’t seen any of this show yet. Is it really worth starting?

Once you get to episode 4 of season 1, it really takes off and is so good. I'd say yes!

Well I was hooked from the very first scene of the 1st EP. And I was skeptical before I started because I had thought it was just one loud fandom overhyping it because of the ~gay. I even rewatched it already and I don't usually do that.

The overhype because of queer representation is exactly what I was worried about.

If anything, watch it for the cast. It's one of the most charming ensembles I've seen in a while. And Rhys Darby's performance is truly one for the books.

And perhaps I'd be remiss if I didn't say that Taika really does look very hot as Blackbeard, which could be a draw on its own, I guess haha

i think if you like the stuff that taika does then you'll probably enjoy it but not even the amount of queer stuff in it was enough to make me like it

If you vibe with it it's great but you probably won't know unless you give it a go. It's a quick watch with only half-hour episodes so even if you end up not liking it you won't at least waste too much time.

Personally, I love it but it took me a couple of episodes to get into it.
