She just posted that the movie is going to premiere a day earlier and I don't know why I'm surprised, but fans are actually pissed. I'm in a Taylor Discord and they all blew up with anger because they're upset that their Friday ticket means they won't be seeing it opening night anymore.

I hope they gave the theaters a heads up because RIP to their staff getting a surprise premiere

this is fucking insane because i just checked my amc app and all of tomorrow's screenings are still regular movies yikes. there's contractual obligations to show those movies between the studios and amc so... how the fuck did they work around that without not getting hit with lawsuits

Isn't it pretty standard for movies to release the evening before their actual release date? Did they not do it originally and changed their mind to get more money?

Yeah, pretty common now. When I started at a theater in 2008 they were only at midnight for certain films. When I left in 2014 we had most films playing at 9pm the Thursday before they "opened." Now it's, like, 6pm or earlier on Thursday.
