Julia Ormond sues Harvey Weinstein, CAA, the Walt Disney company and Miramax over sexual assault

- In the lawsuits Ormond alleges Weinstein sexually assaulted her in 1995 during a business meeting
- She is also suing CAA because of the actions of her former agents Bryan Lourd (father of Billie Lourd) and Kevin Huvane now co-chairs of the agency. She told them of the assault in 1997. Both advised her not to speak out and told her the going "rate" for settling with Weinstein over sexual assault was $100k
- Ormond first met Weinstein in 1994 and was concerned by his behaviour during their initial meeting. Nevertheless her agents later secured a 2 year deal between her and Miramax in which the company paid for her NYC apartment and she was in closer contact with Weinstein
- After informing her agents they dropped her to a less experienced agent which she believed damaged her career
- In her lawsuit Ormond alleges that execs at Miramax, Disney and CAA all knew of Weinstein behaviour and protected him
- She did not speak of the assault to anyone outside of her agency until 2017 when further news of Weinstein's assaults became public
- Talking openly with her family and public about the assaults has helped in her healing process
