Hmm not sure if I like the animation style especially when they're talking. It almost looks semi-fanmade.

Scott P*lgrim gave us homewrecker devil Mary Elizabeth Winsted. I don’t generally support people who destroy families.

Do you?

I like the art style, but is the animation a little...under animated for anyone else? It's very much giving mouth open and close animation while reading the text in a dating sim.

I'm hazarding they're trying to evoke 90s anime? Because it becomes so much smoother during the fight sequences.

Then again this IS Netflix. I still haven't forgiven them for the Dragon Age Absolution and Record of Ragnarok quality blech.

The studio is incredibly talented so I'm not worried
They just chose the wrong scene (too talky) to showcase what the show is going to be like and furthermore, I believe this kind of style is to evoke reading the comic panels, so imho it works.

Having said all that, Cera is the problem for me here, I sort of remember him giving more in the movie

He seems to have done a lot of VA work but I've never seen any of it. I feel I still see a lot of screen actors struggle with voice acting. Not sure if it's the direction or that (if they're a well-known actor) we connect their performances with their faces too much and it just doesn't click.

Here's the kicker, his first voice acting role was in the 2003 Berenstein Bears cartoon.
