Was Angelica let go from RM’s pool of actors?

At my current job we were told the same thing about t-shirts and dress code. Unless it’s blatantly explicit, derogatory or racist then it’s a free speech issue. Outside of issuing out uniforms or a strict clothing guideline they would not be doing anything about someone’s clothing. And they wouldn’t change the dress code because it would effect job recruitment and equity of employment.. and this was from the DEI director.

I feel like in that case you recruit some yts to wear BLM and ACAB shirts and see if they really stand by that policy.

That’s actually why they had a whole conversation about their policy as it was during the BLM movement with people wearing that anti-BLM blue stripe flag thing(idk the name of it) shirts and others wearing BLM shirts. Both are allowed.

"Freedom of speech" or "protected speech" usually refer to actions protected in the first amendment of the US constitution. The first amendment only applies to the government. Americans never understand that. So Facebook can take down your post for having false information. But the courts are deciding if the federal government can put pressure on social media to remove the posts. That's the difference.

And if your employer is the government?

I'm mostly addressing this particular work environment, which is not in the public sector, and the conservatives who use "free speech" as an unintentional dog whistle. But it is lawful for the government to have a dress code for employees ( ... )

My job is pretty strict about clothing messages (and we get lots of those since it's an agency filled with nerds lol), a guy wore an anti-feminism t-shirt earlier this year, he got a warning
and had to change the t-shirt otherwise he'd need to leave the building. Eventually he got fired, but that's cause he was an incompetent moron.

I’m used to working with these policies myself. My last job had a very strict dress code of business formal. Now I work with a bunch of engineers/tech that wear flip flops and khaki shorts in the middle of winter….. 🤦🏻‍♂️

This is why I tell myself I should've studied IT or programming, I see tech folks just wear hoodies and sneakers all the time. I ended up in Marketing as an introvert and its hell half of the time.

They're just another branch of HR there to cover the company's ass.

They're good in theory, but they usually are a one-time thing. They never follow through or keep up in a proactive way. It ends up being performative. They can get preachy, but the higher-ups don't practice what they preach. It just ends up with tokenizing and just meeting an institution's policy on hiring to avoid job discrimination. It's "nice" and "polite," but not "kind."
