I sadly saw it in a guy I met online and tried to use me as a rebound after being dumped LMAO. Nope. He HAD to be in a relationship because I think it made him feel less... idk, it was a lesser evil to be sex crazed if you were dating someone than one night stands in his mind.

I'm sorry you went through that. That's a fucked up mindset to go in to a relationship with. Especially if the other party is looking to go in to a serious relationship. People like that (and Pete) need to step back and become a little more comfortable with themselves (I'd say love themselves but that feels so generic now) and figure out what they want rather than deep diving in to relationship to avoid the real problem.

Sometimes I feel like a loser because I've spent so much time single, but I would always rather be single and (mostly) comfortable with myself than chasing after men because I'm too scared to be alone.

Yeah, I am fine being single. He talked about how he broke up with a girl after 2 months because she wanted to put a label on their relationship. And as someone who wants a serious relationship, I am glad I learned that early and knew that he has zero intention of growing up.

Now I have my mother reminding me my parents got married 6 months after they met when my mother was 22 and they're still together 40 years. I KNOW. You also broke up for 10 years during that 40 years and got back together for ~reasons~ that I remain confused about lmao.

Doesn’t he have BPD? Might have something to do with his inability to be alone

I didn't think about that. Real talk though; I think it has to do with his addiction. He seems to get a bit sober during the relationship, but as it's ending he self sabotages and goes off the deep end. He's using relationships as a quick fix to an addictions he can't shake. It seems like the majority of his girlfriends have tried to help fix him but he becomes too much. And that's messed up brining someone else in to that kind of mess, because it forces them to try and help or fix him.

BPD exists on a spectrum*, so it's incorrect to assume people with BPD have the same symptoms and experiences.

Oh, I know! That's why I said it *might* have something to do with it, not that it’s the definite and only possible explanation.
