We went to see A Haunting in Venice.
It’s better than the other Kenneth Branagh Poirot movies and it wasn’t a bad way to pass an afternoon, but it’s probably a better streaming movie.
Also, I’ve read almost all Poirot stories and once you see the pattern, you can easily pinpoint the murderer right from the start. And that was the case here as well. Still, it had some atmosphere and the location was cool.

ITA with this comment, aside from knowing the murderer ([Spoiler (click to open)]though I absolutely should have in retrospect, lol).

[Spoiler (click to open)]It’s always the very least likely person…In this case either Tina Fey who invited Poirot herself or the mother because she apparently loved her daughter and had no motive. I leaned more towards the latter, but of course Tina’s character turned out to be shady as well.

My mother fell asleep for about 20 minutes and woke up to guess the murderer.

I liked Haunting in Venice too. Branagh was once again having fun with allllll the angles, but this time he really did do all of them. By the time it got to the camera being strapped to Poirot as he goes into the flooding basement, I was just laughing to myself. Also, the second shot of the movie is a Dutch angle, lmao. But yeah, solid atmosphere and generally great to look at.

I keep telling myself that THIS time I'll be able to pick out the killer in a Christie novel, and I always suck at it lol. Though it's easier for me to pick them out in adaptations. I think I retain the info better when it's a movie or show, ha.
