Lily Gladstone will submit her Killers of the Flower Moon performance in the Lead Actress category at the Oscars. This news settles the debate about whether she would campaign in lead or supporting.
She would be the first Native American woman to be nominated in the category. Three other Indigenous women have been nominated as Lead Actress: Merle Oberon (British, part Maori), Keisha Castle-Hughes (New Zealander/Maori), and Yalitza Aparicio (Indigenous Mexican, Mixtec/Triqui). Gladstone is a member of the Blackfeet Nation and also has Nimíipuu heritage.
