Nnn That's really fucked up, and it ain't cute that he gave her a role on Pose where her character was the butt of the joke in a lot of episodes or was humiliated. It has to be personal. Then again, he doesn't care about Black people (re: the Dahmer series).

Idk what happened behind the scenes here but if he personally had it out for her like that I don’t think he would have repeatedly cast her in AHS.

I would say her role on Pose was raw but he hired her again for AHS: Sleepaway Camp or whatever it was called as a nurse and she had more damn sense than everyone else on the show. I think this was an idea that he was floating past people during the pandemic that didn't come to pass for whatever reason. It sucks for her, but personally I would not have put other opportunities on hold until my people told me it was a done deal.

She had no choice though apparently based on her contract. Per her Twitter, she was “held” in position A for potential casting in AHS and had to be available in case Murphy exercised that contract option. Marvel was calling her and she couldn’t give them a firm answer re her availability until Murphy chose whether or not to use her for AHS. Murphy had first shot at her availability so leaving her on read for months screwed up other opportunities.

Per one of her recent tweets:
It’s not JUST that the idea changed. Things change all the time. It’s that I called business affairs for MONTHS trying to get clarity if they were picking up my contract option or if I was ok to tell Marvel that I was available for whatever they were calling me for. I had been auditioning for THREE YEARS for marvel. It’s that I was HELD in first position the whole time.

Oh wow, that's completely different. I agree, she got screwed then. Release people if you're not going to use them!

That just seems so passive-aggressive. You either tell her you want her or not for shows. It's not that hard. Don't be putting her on hold and making her lose opportunities. I'm glad she's speaking up. That's really awful how he messed up her plans and her bag, and she was making efforts to hear back. Lowkey, I wonder if he was mad that she was going to blow up and be part of the Marvel franchise. That had to have hurt him that a Black trans woman was gonna be better than his mediocre White cis male ass who can only do well on TV. He had to have sabotaged her plans.

OMFG. I enjoyed most of Pose but it had glaring issues with colorism/featurism. Like OMG, Candy's entire character was written to be disrespected and then discarded

Yeah, I think many were surprised she got killed off, including herself. Her death was awful, but the last scene to remember her was beautiful and the wedding episode, too. She was a favorite, and her hammer moments were always funny lol

It just sucked how she was constantly being ridiculed for not "passing" as femme on the show and literally being the butt of the joke like the butt-injection episode. There definitely was colorism.
