Reminds me of a kid who was featured in “Humans of New York” who said he had to switch schools because he was bullied so much. A friend’s daughter went to his first school and said it was all lies and he was actually the bully but no one cared that he was lying on HONY because they were just happy he was in a new school.

I know exactly what you mean! This dark cloud of a person (who also did the bare min) wasn’t in my dept but I did have to work with her and she got promoted and the whole office was like “wtf??” then we learned that would mean she’d move to a whole different office and suddenly no one was mad anymore 😆

I actually hate seeing people fail up. Like, maybe an event here and there and they won’t impact your day to day. However, they can continue advancing and one day make wide ranging changes your office hates but because they have a title that wields questionable power, everyone must now obeys the jackass who they knew couldn’t change a printer cartridge when he was a low-level grunt with them, but because he is overwhelmingly doused in entitlement put in for higher and higher positions and people keep pushing him higher thinking sending them away is the right thing to do.

And the low level ass sucker only has to suck up to the right person and do enough to be inoffensive until it’s too late, and bend their spine to wrap their beliefs around it so the ass kisser can earn the higher power’s adulation and recommendations.

I’m am way too fucking high. I am quite positive this does not make sense. My apologies! This was supposed to come off friendly but based on the length…i lost the plot and need to stop touching the grass

I've heard a lot of complaints that HONY straight up writes the captions/fictionalizes stuff.

That's why all the "voices" kind of sound the same.

My favorite thing on facebook for a while was Bots of New York. Where someone put all the captions and pictures into an algorithm and what came out was pure chaos and gibberish.

I have a very similar acquaintance. She regularly (i'm talking weekly-monthly-ish) posts facebook accounts of racist, misogynistic, or queerphobic harassment she receives, including the back and forth dialogue and 'mic drop' moments she has calling people out, and it's clearly BS. Like a few of those could happen, sure, but she's living in a big, liberal city and is supposedly constantly being harassed in public in outlandish ways.

One of her stories in particular, I happened to know the other person she mentioned (a mutual acquaintance who supposedly cornered her threatening 'stay away from my boyfriend!!!) and based on the facts it's pretty clear it never happened.

What mainly worries me is she is now a highly successful professional and very progressive and a great writer. She gets hundreds of reactions to her posts, and I worry that if her lies and attention continue to escalate and are revealed, it will undermine genuine victims.
