I saw people surprised about it but her and her dad have always been indie directors who work outside the studio system. Even with her distributors she tends to work with smaller ones. She sold Bling Ring to a24 before anyone knew who they were.

She still works in film, I can't imagine her being like "Yeah, AI actors, what a great choice".

Bling Ring is the first time I heard about A24 so yeah there were unknown at the time.

I saw the tweet that was like “wow the director of Marie Antoinette gave a good, pro-union but the director of Fight Club didn’t” and it made me really mad lmao. her father made the freaking Godfather trilogy which is all about the corrupting nature of capitalism, he spent so many years trying to create a studio that would allow artists to work outside of the studio system, funded his own projects, she herself has worked with independent studios her entire career…like yeah obviously she’s a privileged white lady but she has depth
