Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis wrote letters in support of Danny Masterson, who ended up being sentenced to 30 years in prison for raping two women.
Ashton reportedly called him a ‘role model’ while Mila commented on his ‘exceptional character.’

I used to really like Mila Kunis, I always thought she had a lot charisma in her roles and seemed reasonably down to earth for a famous actor but I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Truly fuck her and Ashton, I can understand feeling conflicted about a close friend being this a pos rapist and reconciling that with the person you thought you knew, but actively going against the victims of sexual assault is reprehensible. Is five victims coming forward not enough??

Same. I really liked her but getting to know more about her was a mistake.

The thing is - I 100% do not believe that Ashton thinks he is innocent. Those guys notoriously partied together a lot. Ashton was fuck-boying it up back then too. There is no way he didn't see or hear a lot from Masterson that would make him think "Hmmm, yeah, this is a guy who could definitely cross a line with women."

Agreed. I saw that clip of Masterson on Conan's show that someone commented with in the post yesterday of him telling some anecdote that revealed him to be sleazy and predatory, and Conan immediately called attention to it, albeit in a joking way. So if he was telling on himself like that in a public interview, there's no way he wasn't 100% worse in his personal life.

The way Conan just said as an aside "You will be caught"

A lesser host would have let it slide but he managed to get two jabs in there.

Having gone through a lot in my life, I can understand not knowing how to feel about the person. I can understand still having some kind of relationship even. I know a lot of people would end relationship with the perpetrator, but I can understand how someone might somehow keep the perpetrator in their lives.
What I can't understand is coming out in support of the person's terrible actions. No matter how good of a friend he was to them, he committed horrific acts. Both things can be true, and you shouldn't condone someone's terrible actions just because they're your friend or brother or whatever.

I agree with this. They were all young when they met/became friends, Mila especially, so I'm sure that it's unimaginable that their friend is capable of this. That's not a situation I've ever been in and that would be really hard. HOWEVER, just because he's a good friend of theirs doesn't mean he isn't capable of rape, so it's definitely disappointing that they are actively siding with him.

I have been in situations where people I loved have done horrific things to others (and sometimes, to me). I'm empathetic and I have compassion for them on that level, because it is hard as fuck to reconcile that the same person did both things.
HOWEVER, there is no fucking reason to make excuses or try to help the person avoid accountability.

The thing is it's not just supporting, it's publicly supporting. It's a whole nother level to go out of your way to make public statements on the matter instead of supporting someone behind closed doors.

I wonder if they didn't know it would become public. Maybe they sent them in before the Iggy letter for Tory gained publicity?
