Sony Faces Backlash For Increasing PS Plus Membership Prices Across The Board

This week, Sony increased prices for PS Plus memberships across the board. And it wasn't just a subtle increase, prices went up significantly angering gamers. It will cost you $20 more per year for Essential, PS Plus Extra will be $35 more, PS Plus Premium will cost $40 more per year.
Sony snuck in the price increase in a blog post for September's game announcement, writing, "We also wanted to let you know that starting September 6 we will be increasing the price for PlayStation Plus 12-month subscriptions globally across all benefit plans. This price adjustment will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service."

The 3 mid games for the month of September are: Saints Row, Black Desert - Traveler Edition and Generation Zero.
Social media was not too keen on these changes, naturally. Many threatened to cancel, some provided screenshots of their cancellation and others criticized Sony for this egregious increase in pricing.
