James was a busy man, directing 200 episodes of Friends and, if my memory serves me correctly, every episode of Will and Grace.

He directed a bunch (if not the majority) of Cheers episodes, and he's now directed over 1000 episodes of television in total.

But since Friends and Will and Grace (and Fraiser) had some concurrency, it's even more impressive. I kind of figured that each episode of a television show, even a comedy, was a pretty big commitment.

I feel like I've seen his name on tons of sitcoms. I know he was in Lisa Kudrow's show afted Friends as himself.

He didn't direct that many episodes of Friends, but he did the pilot and a lot of early episodes. He did early seasons of Frasier at the same time.

He has directed so many comedy pilots of the last 40 years though. If you look up the popular comedies of the 90s and 2000s, he directed all the pilots. Recently, he even did the Frasier reboot. He also directed 95% of Cheers, and all of Will & Grace.
