This episode was a well-done Hitchcock homage, and the actors really sold it. Sam Richardson playing ambiguously good or bad in the flashback was so funny.

I remember that I was OBSESSED with Buffy when it aired. I was on several different Buffy forums, I lived for spoilers, etc. When they were filming the musical episode, a two second clip of Giles singing got leaked and I sent it to my sister (who is the one I used to watch the show with) and she basically said she liked the show but she didn't think about it outside of the one hour per week when she watched the episode. I was like WHAT?!!!!
But that's how I feel about Afterparty. I enjoy watching it, but I'm not scouring the screen for clues and codes. I enjoy the episode as I watch it and then I don't think about it at all until the next episode airs. If I notice things while I'm watching, great. If not, I'm not pausing the episode to take screenshots and analyze every little thing.

Even though Hanson sucks now (another example of celebrities exposing their asses during the pandemic), Isabel reading the lyrics to MmmBop as a wedding toast was right up there with Turk unwittingly plagiarizing the When Harry Met Sally speech at his rehearsal dinner. I'm always here for ridiculous wedding speeches and Isabel reading the entire thing while staring Edgar in the eye was hilarious.
