a lot of these did and probably had some good times. I didn't officially date an older guy but I went out with one, and it was a LOT of fun--a fantastic rebound from the idiot boy my age i'd been dating! I knew what I was doing and I took my stride of pride. I have been on both sides of good and bad relationships and power dynamics and it's not always about age...

My thing with these types of relationships is there's nothing saying these feelings don't exist but if you really think this is the love of your life you can wait a couple of years. If you're afraid they'll change between this time and then then they're clearly not your soul mate or whatever bullshit romantic justifications people have

Note the usage of the term "back then." We didn't have that information in the 90s that we now know about them. All we saw was the 21 Jump Street heartthrob with the Girl Everyone Wanted To Be, it was something to aspire to.
