2023 continues to be a good year for Amber Heard! She's living her best life and that means finally being free of all legal troubles brought on by the walking corpse of stale cigarette that is her ex. As once again, all charges related to an incident in 2015, of trying to "smuggle" her two Yorkies, Boo and Pistol, into Australia have been dropped.

It honestly had been a passing thought of mine and I'm sure those of us who follow the case have talked about it in passing! But it wasn't until I saw this and went to make this post that it clicked, the fact that my abuser has my dog probably helped to connect the dots.

OP I definitely agree that it shaped some perceptions of Amber. From an Australian perspective there was a lot of domestic political context to why it was made into a big thing - biosecurity is a huge deal here and the Agriculture Minister at the time is a massive grandstanding blowhard who wanted the profile that going after some Hollywood stars would give, showing they were tough on biosecurity and an easy win in terms of public support.

I mean... this is an exceedingly kind description of Barnaby but, also, accurate

You could do a deep dive on all of Barnaby's batshit behaviour tbh.

Yes, I don't think Australia and Joyce were really in the wrong as biosecurity is important. From a P.R standpoint it was fantastic opportunity to get the message out. To be fair, Joyce mostly focused his statement's towards Depp, not Amber. So Joyce wasn't wrong in saying there is a reason why smuggling animals is bad and using the opportunity to highlight why no-one is above the law when importing and quarantining ones animal.

Here in the U.S we've been dealing with invasive species like Lantern Flies. I just read an article saying earthworms are actually causing harm to insects and vegetation in the northeast. Which apparently the scientific community has trying to bring awareness of for like two decades at this point! I now want to know who is the head of the propaganda campaign saying earthworms are good for gardens lol.

I’m certainly no expert, all I know is red wigglers are what are used in worm farms to create compost and they are different from earthworms. So *some* worms are beneficial to gardens?

Lmao this was a useless contribution.

Lmao omg no thank you for adding this, because :
a) I def over generalized in a sweeping statement ( which I hate doing but I’m tired and didn’t feel like finding the article)

b) thus making your comment both important and informative for its nuances!

I love comments like these that add context so it wasn’t useless at all!

Thank you 💜.

I have to say this case and Amber’s strength continue to blow me away.

I’m honestly amazed that Depp didn’t try and fight harder for the dogs or at least joint custody( note to self : something I should look into for my DD) just to hurt Amber as a tactic to forced continued contact longer.
