I would like to believe she is saying that there are levels to it all, and the "cancel" consequence for someone like Weinstein shouldn't be a blanket reaction at the same level for someone who maybe just says some ignorant shit. I do wish she'd said infractions' impact are relative though.

She gets points in my book for making Weinstein the measuring stick even though she didn't personally have a harassment experience with him. Others should take notes tbh

She loses the point when you realize she’s pro Depp and friends with Pitt. I’m guessing those are the 2 she’s thinking when talking about redemption. Wonder if Will and Jamie Foxx have the same redemption, according to her.

Agreed re: Jamie and Will. I think her points are somewhat valid but you're right re: her maybe not being the person to make them...

Did she do something beyond liking Depp's "victory" post?

It’s really shocking that someone whose best friend made racist jokes about Angelina Jolie’s kids would think this. It just comes out of left field!

I just don’t understand what it means.

Hint: it means nothing. It's used for everything from totally unimportant Twitter criticism to actual horrible crimes, like HW's, and it's just this nebulous concept for assholes to complain about while not actually suffering any harm to their careers or blowback for their actual actions. If something tangible does happen, like HW going to prison, that's called consequences. Saying someone like HW was *~canceled~* is so stupid and flippant to me. No, he's a criminal and (eventually) paid for it.

This is a good point. Weinstein should maybe not even be part of this convo because he's an actual convicted criminal, like...

Exactly, crimes are crimes. It feels ridiculous to complain about people who broke laws like HW facing legal and societal consequences. Also, I’m glad sexual allegations in particular are taken more seriously now.

I swear this is the second time she’s said this. Or I’m getting all my white women mixed up.

I think the last time it was something like "Friends would be considered to offense today" even though it's a very popular streaming show lol.
