Does anyone have a list of places to donate? I'd use Twitter but all the activists I follow aren't on there anymore. I'll donate to Red Cross is there isn't a proper list but I'd rather not

I’ll use this as a reminder to people who are thinking of donating to Red Cross: don’t. They have failed thousands of people. Keeping millions to themselves while survivors of disasters live in shacks or continue to be displaced. Give them blood, never give them money.

There’s also this google doc I saw being passed around (hopefully the link works, if it doesn’t, just copy and paste) to immediately help to families in need as govt/nonprofit organizations are taking too long:

This is one of the links I saw as well. I don't trust Red Cross and other places in the sense that their relief will come, sure. But it'll come too late and almost everyone has immediate needs.

I follow paigerragerreads on instagram, she's a woman who lives in Lahaina. She regularly shares links and profiles of her friends who live in Lahaina on her personal page, paiger_rager. I donated through the links she shared. I've been following her bookstagram account for over a year and if you have an Instagram, it might be easier to follow updates through her personal page. There's also a Drive Excel document where you can see individual needs and gofundme pages of people from Lahaina. Since paiger_rager also posted it, I trust the source.

No Red Cross, please. Their response on Katrina was abysmal.

I'll add Greater Good Charities to the list. They have a 4/4 rating on CharityNavigator and they say they're distributing cash grants, pet food, and supplies in Maui. They posted recently seeking donations for a dog that had all his toes burned while trying to escape the fire - https://greatergood.org/disaster-relief-maui-wildfires?utm_source=hubspot&utm_medium=web&utm_term=08092023&utm_content=homepage-subhero-disaster-relief-maui-wildfires-button&utm_campaign=disaster
