I don't follow DC very well, but wasn't there also miscommunication with whether Cavill and/or Dwayne Johnson were returning? Was that mainly the power vacuum and changeover that the ball was dropped somewhere? And now seemingly more miscommunication btwn Gunn, Gadot, and Other Guy?

When Henry Cavill left The Witcher it was assumed that he left partly so he could resume being Superman, and then they announced he wasn’t returning

yeah we obviously don't know what was said to who but this happening again tells me something's rotten at DC

I'm not mourning the loss of any of these movies but yeah some kind of huge miscommunication happened and I want to know how it got bungled this bad.

it's weird that it's happened multiple times. like I don't feel like these actors would claim they had plans to work again in the future if they didn't? What do they have to gain from claiming something that is as untrue as it turned out to be? And why would multiple people do it, when it was embarrassing for other people? It's all weird and idk who put James Gunn in charge but so far it seems all he does is tweet and cause drama lol

The "miscommunication" was WB telling Cavill to promote his cameo in Black Adam, and instead, he made it look like on his IG that he was coming back in his own solo Superman movie. He can't follow directions/keep his mouth shut.

So fans leaped on that and it became "Cavill was coming back but James Gunn fired him." That's not what happened. He never had a signed contract for anything other than his Black Adam cameo.

He did the same thing a couple of months ago on his new Argylle movie. Guy Ritchie told him it would probably be released in Feb., but not to say anything about it because it was just a tentative date. He ran to his IG and said it would be released in Feb.--then Universal yelled at him.

He just can't keep his mouth shut.

Argylle is not directed by Guy Ritchie, the film he is working on with Guy Ritchie is League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Argylle has been finished forever and for some unknown reason keeps getting pushed back, but it was filmed in like 2021? And has a totally different direct, though his name escapes me at the moment

You're right, it's Matthew Vaugh, but it makes no difference. The problem is Cavill going off half-cocked.

how is that a problem tho? the movie IS coming out in February. And it wasn't made by Universal, it was made by Apple TV. I am unaware of there being any drama on this count? He posted it on IG when the release date was announced.

Because that date isn't set in stone so they didn't want people to start expecting it then. It will play on Apple, but Universal has the US theatrical distribution rights.

The problem is when someone tells you not to blab about something and you do it anyway.

he didn't break the news on his instagram, though? Like, Apple TV announced it, he posted it. Who told him not to blab? Like do you have a sauce on this because I follow his google alerts and this is honestly the first I've heard that there was a problem with that. all the news I've seen has been about how Matthew Vaughn wants to make a trilogy and Argylle is kind of a confusing project because it's based on a book that hasn't been released, which is super weird? I'm just interested in it to see if Dua Lipa can act lol
