August 10, 2023 Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are going to court with 83 year old veteran and 1-800-Flowers founder Carl Westcott over a home sale.
According to court documents, he purchased the home on May 29th 2020 for
$11,250,000 and on July 15 2020, he signed an agreement to sell the home to Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom for $15 million in an all-cash deal.
He claims that on July 22nd 2020, he began to feel mentally clear and realize that he was not in the right state of mind given the opiate pain killers had been taking following his back surgery on July 11th 2020 and no longer wanted to sell the home. Katy and Orlando's lawyers claim that he's obligated to complete the sale and his lawyers claim that he does not because he was not of sound mind at the time of the signing.
This is not the first time Katy has gone to court over a real estate dispute with the elderly. Previously, Katy Perry attempted to purchase a $14.5 million property in Los Feliz. It was an old
convent and there was a dispute between the archdiocese and the nuns over who had the right to sell the property. The nuns sued and one of them collapsed and passed away in the courtroom. The nun's famous last words were reportedly "
Katy Perry, please stop".
