This is what I can’t stand. People can show different sides to different people. And abusers are ESPECIALLY good at it.

I mean you had people defending Ted Bundy when he was charged with them stating he was “so nice” etc. Maybe it’s a bad comparison, but I can’t stand the “this person was always nice to me” excuse as if that makes them innocent to alleged crimes, mistreatment, etc. You weren’t there Grimes so keep your shitty opinion to yourself.

She had me thinking about Ted Bundy in another post because someone asked why she would be so brazen. That’s how narcissists are! They can’t fathom being seen as wrong. Bundy was snatching women in broad daylight sometimes two at a time!

no it's actually a good comparison because narcissistic, sociopathic types can be VERY charming and great at mirroring/fooling everyone. it's how they hook their victims and hide out in the open. abusers in relationships are often also masters of being kind and loving to you in public and horrible to you in private.

Honestly it's wild to me that that's actually so normal. It goes hand in hand with this weird belief that people should judge you for the taste you have in people/media before finding out how trash someone is. Like I don't care if you like Lizzo's music, I care if you continue to support it going forward

I think someone said it with Johnathan Majors about how we should stop acting like abusers appear to be hideous gutter trolls who are mean to everyone.

I imagine a lot of abusers get away with it the way they do because they present very nicely to the people they don't abuse and make sure there will always be people who don't believe their victims.
