August 3, 2023 -Star Trek: Strange New Worlds just debuted the franchises first musical episode this past thursday to rave reviews.
-The showrunners notated that they looked to Buffys 'Once More With Feeling' when developing the episode.
-The team challenged themselves to try to be as good as OMWF and were scared that they wouldnt be able to do original songs but they ended up pairing with Letters to Cleo rockers Kay Hanley and Tom Polce.
-They started working on the episode 6 months in advance once they decided they felt comfortable tackling such a huge episode.
-Ethan Peck who plays Spock was afraid that he would not be able to pull off singing but of course he had a great voice.
-Since they saw in s1 that Uhura actress, Celia Rose Gooding, could SING, they knew that they had to give her the big ballad that ties all the songs together.
