People who didn't live through that first summer of Survivor will never understand what a phenomenon it was. From the shock of Gretchen getting voted off to Sue's "snake eating the rat" speech, it was all so, so good.

Also, not to be that person, but it was actually Stephen who slapped Irene, not the other way around. She was leaving the show and outed him as she was literally walking out the door. That's when he threw her stuffed dog in the river, then chased down her car and slapped her.

Irene didn't slap Stephen, he slapped her and then threw her stuffed animal (that he'd stolen and kept hidden) in the bay. After she called him "a homosexual." I remember all of this vividly because it was formative reality tv for me lol. My first ever season of Real World.
