west virginia is one of the lowest ranked states when it comes to health care access, health outcomes, education, public safety nets/services, and income equality in the US. the coal mining and oil industries are heavy invested in doing business there but there’s not much state funded public infrastructure to support the ppl who live there. their politicians dgaf

From personal experience, I (a black person) was on a road trip with my mom and grandparents when I was like 8 ​so we stopped at a McDonald's. It was so chilling I remember it to this day. We walked in and everyone in a relatively full restaurant (all white ofc) stopped talking and stared at us.
The entire time. We got our food to go.
