This is a real bear, not a human dressed in costumes! A four-year-old Malayan sun bear named Angela in a Hangzhou zoo went viral on China's social media as a video showed the world's smallest bear standing upright and waving to tourists just like a human. pic.twitter.com/Azv2tTVJhv

A few days ago, a video in the Hangzhou zoo in China of some sun bears standing up and waving to visitors, went viral, since according to some Internet users, they act and look a little too much like humans donning a bear costume, especially since according to some, the butt/lower back looks like the costume is ill fitting.

Conspiracy theories started to appear on the reasons why the zoo would use disguised humans as bears with even allegations of hiding animal abuse from the zoo being thrown. Further dividing opinions. With some people countering the main point of the theories, the “ill fitting of the costume” as the natural way of sun bears butts, with them having loose skin around the area.

Eventually the zoo itself had to release a statement to confirm that the creatures are indeed animals of the the family Ursidae kind, but the debacle is still going online.

A video of a bear standing in Hangzhou, China, swept through social media with conspiracy theories it was a human in a suit. The zoo tried to clear things up by releasing a statement in the bear’s voice. “I am a Malayan sun bear!” https://t.co/pJ36hDWhhM pic.twitter.com/1pJL6zwM0S
