News came out just now that Brad Pitt’s latest film has stopped production "in support of the strike."

Via Deadline's very PR-friendly release:

"Brad Pitt is reported to have paused production on his Formula One film, to show support for the SAG strike. The Oscar winner is currently in Europe filming Apex, but a source has told UK media that production has been cancelled.

The Sun reports that: “Brad agreed that they would finish shoots booked in but has postponed planned production over the next two months.

The cast and crew of Apex have been filming in Budapest (Hungary, central Europe) but Brad has called for the future dates to be put back, in solidarity with everyone striking. (Translation: we were going to continue filming but we're now stopping because people have noticed)

Postponing the production was a massive call, especially financially, but Brad has listened to the concerns of the people he works with and wants to show his support."

In two separate articles, LaineyGossip goes in:

"It’s a grey area for sure. Kosinksi isn’t on strike, neither are non-SAG actors, but the star of the film is one of the most high-profile actors in the world. If Pitt forced the issue and production shut down, it would make a helluva statement. He certainly has the power to do it, he’s one of the few who actually do. However, the UK-based actors who belong to Equity, the UK acting union, legally CANNOT declare a sympathy strike, so those actors who belong to Equity, but not also SAG-AFTRA, have to report to set if their production is still rolling."

"...production seemed to be continuing on his F1 film, Apex, last week in Hungary. To be clear, Brad was not seen on set, but Apex is an Apple film and Apple is a struck company; if filming is continuing, even without SAG members, it still gives the impression that the production isn’t quite in solidarity with the unions - and Brad being one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, even if he’s not in front the camera, at best he’s staying neutral in this specific circumstance."

SAG-AFTRA officially called the strike on Thursday, July 13th.

Lainey also notes Pitt’s nemesis and fellow shady Hollywood mainstay Tom Cruise- despite asking for permission to continue promoting his finished film- followed SAG's ruling and completely shut down promotion and production on Dead Reckoning part two when the strike was announced (Cruise also stepped in at SAG's request to try to avert the strike).

She also implies that People's recent story about Pitt’s love life was released to distract from said scabbing.
