writing really is the way to make money now that standard record deals with labels don't let artists own their own music...it is the way to have career longevity now. and probably why charli can put out the music she wants to/that's ahead of the curve vs what's popular

I think her biggest problem is that she’s really inconsistent so she never builds up the right momentum. She’ll have an incredible song and then the next three will be completely forgettable and I don’t think she’s ever had an album that was particularly great all the way through.

I’m pretty sure her only really popular songs were the songs she did with Iggy Azalea and Icona Pop ten years ago. I think she’s popular among the kinds of people who write about music but she’s never been particularly huge. Bebe Rexha has twice the monthly listeners on Spotify.

Charli has a bigger fanbase while Bebe has more casual listeners. It's obvious if you compare the tours and the album sales (Charli debuted on #7 and Bebe on #132)

It's crazy to me because Charlie's tours are so popular and her last album was in the top 10.
