I know there are good people who live in those states who don't deserve to be stuck in such shitholes, but it's so disheartening seeing the majority of people who live there continue to vote in people who keep their states such awful places to live.

This is definitely true of #1. All of the major cities vote blue but it doesn't matter because Abbott and the Republican-majority TX Lege are fucking ghouls.

I'm legit baffled people keep voting for Ted Cruz - who I am convinced has a shame kink at this point....

Every time those GQP conservative christofacist assholes and their followers attack Houston/Harris County I want to sacrifice them to the next big hurricane.

This is true in basically every state because cities are almost always blue but it seems actually less true in Texas than other places. Texas’ four largest cities are blue but Fort Worth is about the size of Austin, is a Republican city, and is part of the most populous Republican county in the country. There are also ton of other large cities in the suburbs of those largest cities that are very red.

It's unbelievable how brain washed some people are.

it isn't a majority. the more densely populated cities are gerrymandered into huge districts that are have way more numbers of voters than the suburbs and more rural places. it's intentional funneling of those votes to make them as low impact as possible

Well at least SC and my home of third worst (geaux Louisiana! At least we’re not number one? 🫠) Louisiana will both get a second majority black district. One thing that SCOTUS did right this year. But yeah, it’s insane how blatantly manipulated our so called “democratic” elections are.

As the saying goes, if voting actually made a difference they wouldn't allow us to. It's part of why Putin invaded Ukraine - even with all the propaganda and corruption he was set to lose the next election because the younger generation is not here for his shit. But elections can be suspended during wartime, plus war tends to favour the incumbent

i was honestly floored to see sc ranked so high above florida. but i guess florida isn't trying to give women the death penalty for abortion, so maybe i shouldn't be so surprised.

That's partially true, but statewide elections like governor and senate aren't impacted by gerrymandering, but TX is still reelecting Abbott, Cruz and Corbyn. Though of course, I think voter suppression and disenfranchisement contributes to that.

I keep having to reiterate they stole those elections lmao CRUZ MOST DEFINITELY STOLE HIS ELECTION. He had fucking robocalls in Spanish telling citizens they’d be deported. Texas is blue. And the republicans know that.

Also NOT IMPACTED? Are you kidding me?? They tried to gerrymander Lloyd Doget out of his seat and they got in a second democratic elected. Don’t speak on what you don’t know.

....Lloyd Doget is a Representative, not a Senator?

My point was that statewide elections literally cannot be gerrymandered? That was all I was saying. Senators don't have district. The entire state votes for them so there isn't gerrymandering involved.

Sorry lmao 🫢 I am not operating on a lot of sleep atm. Still I think you’re massively downplaying how much disenfranchisement and voter suppression play into how bad it is in Texas.

Texas is not blue at all lol. Beto O’Rourke had one of the most well funded senate campaigns ever because everyone from out of state gave him money and he couldn’t even beat Ted Cruz who is one of the most unlikable politicians on the planet.
