I don’t think I’ve ever seen Deadline pull an about-face *this* abruptly. Matt Damon’s lawyers must’ve REALLY got in that ass, lol.

July 15, 2023 Deadline, who has been pushing a curiously anti-strike narrative, tweeted out a clip of staunchly pro-union Matt Damon talking about the strike. The problem? They summarized the quote as Matt saying his production company would take a brutal hit, and that's not what he said. They cut off his full quote where he voiced full support for the strike.
The tweet was deleted and
reposted with Matt's REAL comment: “If our leadership is saying that the deal isn’t fair, then we gotta hold strong until we get a deal that’s fair for working actors. It’s the difference between having healthcare and not for a lot of actors, and we gotta do what’s right by them.”
They also included an apology at the bottom of the tweet reading: "A previous version of this tweet was deleted for lacking Damon’s full statement in the copy. We regret the inaccuracy and apologize to Mr. Damon."
Safe to say Mr. Damon got the lawyers involved.
