Sorry to be so clueless lol but doesn't this post use 4 major cuts, one of which then also uses a spoiler cut?? I just have never understood why I need to open two cuts to get to the post content sometimes haha.
I could be wrong, but it looks like the user just used spoiler cuts. I've tried to use two major cuts within a cut in a post and wasn't able to do so. LJ told me it's not possible, and if you're doing cuts within a cut to use the spoiler cut instead. I'm not sure if you can use multiple cuts if they're independent of each other, so that might be what this person has done.
Ah right I think I see what you mean. This post uses 4 major cuts independently of each other, but if you want to nest cuts you have to use a spoiler cut within those. It also seems like: - Major cuts disappear when you click into a post. All are open by default and cannot be collapsed. - Spoiler cuts are always closed by default no matter what view you're using and they can't be collapsed after opening. - If you're on the main ONTD page and open a major cut, you can then collapse it to keep scrolling.
So it's possible that people use both at once to account for the different kinds of views (main page vs in the post vs people who get posts emailed to them)??
The normal cut works on the front page of ONTD, but not on the FIRST page of the post itself (they work on the 2nd, 3rd and so on page). So if you have a lot of embeds or a really long post, every time you click your way into the post to comment, the whole post with all the embeds has to reload, and then you have to scroll past everything. Which can be annoying.
When I'm an OP I just find it easier to use the spoiler cuts since they work regardless of which page you're on, but I've also heard that sometimes on mobile they don't work. So I use both cuts to be sure.

Or sometimes the op likes to use it as a clickbait lol.
Idk, hopefully op will provide some insight lol.
