Did you literally miss the entire reason she’s doing this is to reclaim ownership of her own music since her original masters were sold out from under her?

The Masters that her father received millions of dollars for?

I'm not sure why this is a surprise, didn't he own a portion of the label she was on? If SHE bought the masters he too, as part owner, would have gotten a portion of that sale as well.

it only took a quick wiki search to find that the masters dispute is related to the label trying offering to sell to her with an NDA in place and that rather than renegotiate with her sold to someone else before she found out about the sale closing.

Reclaim implies that she had them once and they were sold FROM her. She never owned the masters, even when she begged fans to buy these OG recordings for years.

She did always have ownership over the songs though. That is, they never would’ve been able to license them without permission, etc. But with TV, Taylor gets ALL profits from her songs whereas before she would have to split profits. Now, she gets profits from the OGs and the TVs.

>even when she begged fans to buy these OG recordings for years

LMAO what the fuck else is she supposed to do

Edit: I realize you probably didn't mean this as a critique but I'm just loling at how this was phrased

I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up buying her masters after she finishes releasing this shit but Swifties always believe everything she says so they don't have to accept that she only sees dollar signs when she looks at her fans.

I mean her doing this devalues the original masters and therefore will allow her to buy them for cheaper. Its objectively a smart business move. I don't follow her so I don't know what she's said about it.

All I know is that she spun it so she looked like the victim even though it was just a typical business situation. Sis has a lot of enemies so she couldn't have been too surprised that turning down a deal to buy her masters could result in them being owned by someone she hates.

THIS CHEAP BITCH lmaooo but honestly what a power move that would be, I hope she does it.

Not only that but it's showing new fans who were too little/weren't born yet when they were initially released her older music catalog again. It's super smart lol Like I have a younger cousin in HS who is just discovering Fearless/Speak Now for the first time because of these re-releases.

It's just like Disney doing all their remakes of the animated titles.

I think plenty of fans acknowledge she's a capitalist lmao

Way too many of them still parrot her narrative that she's releasing these Taylor's Versions to take back control of her music and not because she saw an easy way to make a boatload of money.
