tbh as long as it's not Stockholm I do not care where it's hosted, but I am glad it's not in Gbg bc there's always construction happening that makes the city irritating to navigate as it is

I went to lunch with friends the other day and the tram stop I normally get off at was closed and the nearest one was a 15 min walk uphill 💀💀💀

I hope we have Petra Mede hosting again, I love her

Oh lol, I visited Göteborg almost 20 years ago and literally all I remember is construction sites. I'm thinking of travelling around Sweden a bit next year and wanted to finally properly see the city, but your comment makes me go Hmmm... xD

tbf the project is relatively short-lived and should be done in the next few weeks but in the last 10 years the city has really started to grow and tons of new shit is going up so it's just growing pains I guess

June is the best time of year to visit imo, even if the weather is super unpredictable, but this entire area out here is gorgeous and there's so many small islands to visit in the archipelago. My husband and I go to Grebbestad every summer and buy a kilo of fresh crayfish and shrimp and just go to town. I did not like seafood before moving here but absolutely LOVE the stuff from our waters, summer is the best time to eat it too!

Aww, thank you for the recommendations! I have an acquaintance in Lysekil & what she's shown me of the landscape is soo beautiful indeed! Island hopping sounds fun too, but... I'm not sure if I can find anyone to join me, so I'd probably pick things to do & places to go that won't make me look & feel extra alone lol. Although I now have to picture myself sitting at some beautiful waterside sobbing into a kilo of crayfish, "Are you ok, Ma'am?" - "Nej!" 😅

If you come out here, DM me--I have lived here 10 years now and never tire of our islands. Lysekil is quite close (to a Californian)--there's a small town across the water, Fiskebäckskil, that's super adorable. Our public transport is really fantastic too so you can literally get anywhere you'd want to go!

My husband and I are planning to get up to Karlstad at some point this summer. It's on Lake Vänern, which is reason enough in the summer, but he went to uni at Karlstad University so he's been wanting to show me around his old stomping grounds.

There's no shortage of places in Sweden to visit, imo!

Oh, how kind, thank you! I'll make sure to remember to send you a message :) I actually expected the need to rent a car, so good to know that I should look more into other means of transport.
Fiskebäckskil already sounds super adorable as I somehow read it as "Fischbäckchen" (little fish cheeks) haha.
Enjoy Karlstad, I hope you'll have amazing weather when you go! I've never been to Lake Vänern myself, but that's on my list as someone invited me to Kristinehamn. I also have a close friend near Ludvika who I never visited.
For some reason I never explored Sweden outside a few cities, even though I don't live that far. I find it quite an expensive country, to be honest, but that's a lame excuse as I've been to Norway in recent years which is arguably more expensive.
