It's kind of astounding how shit has gone downhill here. like I'm just glad my grad degree from a Florida university is from a private school because I feel like public universities are going to be such a joke soon, especially in my field (sociology). Which is a shame. Florida State in particular has a history of putting out some excellent Sociology PhDs.

I'm just hoping the value of my condo stays high (I think it will, unlike other home prices my place has only increased in value) because in a few years when my roommate's child is 18 and done with being raised, we are all fleeing the state. I'm probably going to go back to Oregon (or maybe Washington) with my roommates and buy a place with them out there. Thankfully home prices in the northwest are dropping but my condo is holding steady since there are so few affordable housing options around South Florida now.

my mother is determined to stay here and is so set in her ways that I hope it doesn't get too bad for her sake. she is gay and it makes me worry.

my roommate is homeschooling his kid because of all this shit, he doesn't want his child to have a white supremicist education. because he's disabled and at home anyway he can do this, I feel so bad for parents who don't have this option.

we would honestly already be gone but my roommate's bbmama has to stay here because she has young kids with another guy and he's not willing to take his son away from his mother, but once that kid is raised we are all GONE

he's one of my best friends, we've been friends for over 20 years. and when you're poor and disabled it's much easier to pool resources since Social Security pays nothing. I also probably shouldn't live alone because of my disability, it's not terribly safe, I'm prone to falls
