lol I feel you. I LIVED for this show in season 1 and the fact that I missed its release for a couple days is wild. Netflix really managed to murder the franchise they were trying to create. The wasted potential is really remarkable.

and I think Henry didn't give them a choice on when to announce. He was trying to send WB the message I think that he was 100% committed to Superman, and I mean, I don't feel sorry for him -- he banked half a million filming two cameos (and the one for the Flash didn't even get used, which is good for him tbh, no one probably wants to be associated with such a flop now) as Superman and he's rich and has a nice Amazon deal to fall back on

honestly I think he looked at what he was putting into the role (almost going blind in S2 is something people don't mention enough, he really pushed himself too hard, got injured almost catastrophically to the point where he would have to quit doing stunts forever, and did actual damage to his eyes with the contacts) and realized it wasn't worth the toll it was taking on his body.

Oh wow, I didn't realize the Witcher set what THAT messy bts. I don't blame him for quitting. He's a huge fan of the video games so it must be devastating to see the story and characters get shredded like this by the writers.

I don't know if I'd say it was super messy behind the scenes, I don't know, but Cavill was being really extreme in his commitment to the role to the detriment of his health, and I think he realized it was stupid when S2 was so poorly received. Like he was the one who ignored instruction to take out the contacts more often after he injured his eyes, and supposedly thought the person advising him on-set was being overly cautious and then he really did fuck up his eyes. He's been known to physically commit in pretty extreme ways for roles (Immortals he was near-anorexic and waxed his entire body, then he had to gain a ton of wait for Cold Light of Day and be "normal" and then right back to Superman shape for Man of Steel and that whiplash made him vow to never do that for roles again) and I think between the eye issues + his hamstring injury that almost ended his stunt career in S2 and realized it wasn't worth it. He probably reasoned he could make a lot more money as Superman, with less physical commitment since films not as time-consuming as TV, and then Superman flopped. Not a coincidence that he split with his longtime manager (The Rock's ex-wife Dany Garcia) right around the time Black Adam/Superman fell apart.

I feel bad for him but who could've foreseen DC scrapping the entire DCEU like this?

Another example of "don't give 100% to your employer"; if they want you gone, you're gone. Physical injuries are no joke.

I don't feel bad for him, lol, he is going to be fine and it really was his decisions to go as hard as he did on The Witcher and maybe he realized it wasn't worth breaking his body for a job.

I do wonder what exactly happened with Superman. I do feel like someone made him believe he would have the job back besides The Rock at DC, and then James Gunn changed his mind. I mean, the DCEU has been a disaster pretty much outside of the success of Wonder Woman.
