Controversial now, but Jonathan Rhys Meyers in Bend It Like Beckham almost makes up for the fact that it should've been an explicitly queer movie. Almost.

Ah gotcha. When the rumours were going around the initial draft was for them to end up together she contradicted it, so I thought that's what you meant.

I heard about that as well. I think Keira said at one point that she was pretty sure the "queer draft" wasn't true, but that she also agrees those two characters would've/should've been gay regardless.
