Bet he would still charge an arm and a leg for those 30 minutes.

If I’m paying 50-200 bucks a ticket I better get my damn moneys worth.

I hate it when grandpa rockers feud. 😢

Personally, I prefer a festival type setting, that way you feel like you got your moneys worth. Ticket prices are so grossly high that it’s hard to justify paying that much money to see one act with an opener.

Is it a feud when it's just an old man yelling at cloud?

it doesn't seem like he's being serious, i mean the article even says "jokingly"? he does long shows himself so clearly he doesn't have a real problem with it

I don't know if it was actually that short or just felt that way, but when I saw Vanessa Carlton it felt *incredibly* quick. she didn't have an opener and only played 13 songs. considering she was just at the piano and only had a cellist accompanying her, I was surprised it wasn't a longer show... she didn't even play "San Francisco" in San Francisco!

that said, I hate going to shows where there's multiple openers and you end up standing around between sets for what feels like an eternity, so that by the time the actual act is on you're already itching to leave. that's no fun. idk what exactly is the optimal time between opener and headliner - like I'll see the actual load-in/load-out and it never takes as long as the actual time that elapses so is the interval otherwise intentional - building suspense, etc - or is it the next act just taking their sweet time lol

last year I went to a concert (a big show against gender violence with some of the most famous Italian female artists + some guests) that lasted from 7 pm to 1 am and at the end I was so tired that I didn't want to listen to Laura Pausini's set (the last one), and when all the stars reunited to sing together at the end of the show I was already leaving

That being said, if I'd pay for a concert ticket with the price that there are nowadays and the show would lasts only half an hour, I would be ready to fight the artist

I went to see The Chats a few weeks ago and they were on fire for one hour straight and then they peaced out lol. I think for punk concerts it makes sense for them to be short because otherwise they will need to go to the hospital afterwards for exhaustion.

As for the longest? Idk but I just saw Peter Gabriel as well and he played for almostttt three hours? Which is impressive since he's 73 years old. Not that he is flailing around the stage much these days but still! I was tired from sitting lol.

Also the longest i've needed to WAIT before an artist started was with Poppy. She was like 1.5 hours late and I felt like I was in purgatory. Every single time a song faded out we'd think 'Ok she will get on stage now' but then another song would start up. It was so bad. The concert was good tho.

lol, did people not stand much for Peter? I was surprised by how many stood when I saw Genesis. The audience was a mix of old and young, and a lot of people, at least in my section, were up and dancing for a good part of the show. They alternated, which was good because I couldn't see anything when everyone was standing.

My venue was all seating! And the overall crowd age was pretty high I guess but they did stand up for his bigger hits. That probably took quite a lot out of them lol. But his tour is mostly centered around an unreleased album so I think it would have been a bit difficult for people to reallyyy vibe with the setlist. It was amazing though.

Also it was actually really funny because the venue next door had Harry Styles. It was sooo obvious who was going to which concert! It was either balding men or girls dressed to the nines in pink feathers.
