With The Ring it’s definitely the video itself. I used to have dreams that felt similar when I was younger. Also, when they peal off the wallpaper in the barn for some reason

I illegally downloaded the ring on like Limewire or something so after watching it, i made a copy just in case.

The tape plus when they find her in the closet. That cut to her still gets me even though I’ve watched The Ring so many times.

Is the closet scene about a girl who’s like dead with her mouth open down to the knees? Because I remember being like 8 and my dad watching that scene on tv and me being so scared that I ran out from the room screaming and crying. I don’t even know where that scene is from and I’m still scared to google it lol.

Grainy video shit gets me EVERY. TIME.

The Ring video, the figures in White Noise (2005), the tapes in Archive 81 on Netflix, and the Taiwanese film Incantation.

Scarier than any gore, monster, jump scare, or killer.

Omg I never see reference to Incantation! For some reason that movie unsettled me a lot even though it's not very gory at all.

Yes! The scene where they sneak into the cave at night, and then at the end when the face of the god is revealed. Utter dread!

Ughh it was so unsettling! The sneaking into the cave had so much growing dread, I was sweating.
