Maybe years ago I would've said it's worth it to debate these idiots if you can convince even one person but now I'm like fuck that. What did debating climate change get us? I feel like it just helped the idiots spread their dumb and dangerous ideas. If you've seen those trending videos that are titled "Ben Shapiro destroys liberal" you know it just ends up helping them spread their bullshit in the end.

yeah i feel at this point people have made up their minds on the topic, whether theyre vaxxed or not, theyre cemented in their perspectives and anti vaxxers arent going to budge

it sounds very hopeless but i think we can find alternative ways to spread important information without needing to bicker with conspiracy theorists

It's always been pointless since 1. You don't debate facts, especially not when one party is ignorant of the facts and 2. Debate is not how you convey information. Debate is about being a persuasive (or loud and annoying) speaker. These cranks just want a platform to spread their lies.

Ever since I read that study where I found out most people don't care about facts I just focus on emotionally manipulating people to my side.😂

On stuff like twitter I will often post a corrective if someone is being vile not because I care to correct THEM, but in case anyone reading their garbage sees it.

It’s older than podcast culture. Assholes like this have been pulling this “equal time”/“DEBATE ME” shit since the 90s RE: gay marriage, LGBTQ+ folx in the military, creationism, the war in Iraq, climate change, ~vaccines cause autism~, the simple existence of trans folx in general, etc.
