This makes me so sad to hear. I know sometimes he swings high but I enjoy his film making and the man has a Best Picture Oscar live action and a Best Picture animated.

I was kindly reminded of THE CHAMPIONS (based on the TV series) which I developed for Cruise/Wagner a decade ago. BTW An entire coffee cup fell into my keyboard the day of the presentation. It fried. I had to do it all over. Always backup! @chrismcquarrie did a few drafts too!

I'm still SO sad his Justice League Dark will never see the light of day. It would have been incredible, I just know it. I'm also curious about what his Pacific Rim 2 looked like because I couldn't even finish that movie, it was terrible imho.

Same. I can't even remember if I watch Pacific Rim 2 but the casting for the first one will never not annoy the shit out of me. They're in Hong Kong and literally not a single local in a position of power is Asian but all their dialogue-less underlings and civilians are. The only Chinese characters are the triplets and they didn't even have lines, let alone distinct personalities. They were all set-dressing at the "expense" of diversity.

I really wish he would be able to make At The Mountains of Madness, too. The only really good Lovecraft adaptation I've ever seen is a weird indie film that was made of The Call of Cthulhu in the style of a 1920s silent film. (Color Out of Space IMO wasn't bad but kind of meh.)

After the shit that was the Disney LA and the beautiful but poorly constructed story/lack of character development and chemistry, the French version.

I'd kill to see a super dark GdT version. Oooph, the CoMC, yes. Mephistos Bridge and Haunted Mansion.

Also damn @ Nightmare Alley being the only one that's been made 5 years later. He's just a producer on pacific rim 2 and they didn't even use his idea for the sequel. 😭

i'll never get over his justice league dark never going anywhere. his treatment of all of those characters had the potential to be amazing and ticks so many del toro boxes. outcasts, monsters, quirk, chosen family, with some occult/demon shit on the side

Yeah fr who's fault is that. I always thought GDT left to focus on other projects. Was it Boyega? Pretty sure his production had a hand in the film and the final product definitely favored him.

I heard rumors his Haunted Mansion took place back in the time period the Mansion had all the guests / host / bride alive... I would have preferred that than this new film which feels like the Eddie Murphy one but better.

I just have strong feelings any time he does a gothic piece. He does so well at it.
