Every month my husband has to call all the pharmacies to find his ADHD meds since there’s still a shortage and it’s such a stressful nightmare…I cannot even imagine going through that for medicine that’s SO necessary for your health.

Truly wish such bad things on the people using it for cosmetic reasons.

i assume you're probably aware that the DEA created this headache by randomly imposing production limits on these drugs, same as they did with opioids. Absolutely nothing to do with need or demand, just trying to look like they're doing something

Oh damn I didn’t know that but now that I do it’s very much a duh moment. The feds manage to make healthcare in this country even more nightmarish every day

yep 'too many' people getting an adhd dx so better restrict the meds because ?reasons

It's like in australia, 'too many' people getting autism diagnosis and the govt's response is to restrict how much funding and programs and support there is. Because as we saw with chronic pain, if you restrict meds the problem goes away /s

That discourse fully makes me want to riot…it’s just so outrageous that they’re CHOOSING to ignore that autism & ADHD have been completely misunderstood this entire time so only a small percentage ever got diagnosed. Like the first person ever diagnosed with autism is still alive! It’s okay to admit that the medical community & governments still need to catch up😤

I missed being diagnosed because I was born female in 1982 and the wisdom was girls don't have autism unless it's really severe. Same with ADHD, girls/women are less likely to show the hyperactive part of it so it just gets missed, especially if you're gifted

Exactly same here. And even when it came to my teenager (enby but AFAB) their psychiatrist laughed at me suggesting they needed to be tested for ASD despite already being diagnosed with OCD, ADHD, ARFID, depression, and anxiety. All of those things together scream autism so it’s still bonkers to me how misinformed this professional is.

He started to tell me it was just ANOTHER diagnosis before I lost it and disclosed that I was just diagnosed with ASD so was pretty confident in what I saw in them. Made me so mad that most parents would implicitly trust this dude and not know to push back.

The kicker is that we still have to see him & pay $150/month because there’s no other child psychiatrists to choose from. Fucking hate the state of healthcare in this world😭

You and I and everyone else deserves so much better :(

I read an article that posed it as 'too many young women are being diagnosed with ADHD' as if it's their fault and not that they have under diagnosed for decades and the FDA has imposed those restrictions with the idea that women don't need it. Fuck men, honestly, especially male doctors who refuse to treat women properly.

right?? I'm only finding out at the age of 41 that I very likely have the inattentive subtype and I'm like oh my god so much makes sense (in addition to learning I'm autistic a year ago). I could just about manage it with a rigid system of things to keep my life in check (hello autism!) but covid just fucked me. I have so many plans for things I want to do - I WANT to do them - but I sometimes don't even remember to eat

eta: to whit, it's 2am and i'm like oh i forgot dinner icecream will do. It's also why I constantly edit my comments because i post and then my brain is like MORE THOUGHTS

Exactly. My daughters were diagnosed at 15 and 24. The older one has none of the 'typical' symptoms, which usually mean symptoms that boy/men have, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't have ADHD. it also means that she had to be 24 to be diagnosed and now they are out of meds.

I know what you mean about forgetting or remembering letter. I used to get so annoyed at them when I got 'I forgot' as an answer, but once they were diagnosed, we just learned to cope differently and we were all less stressed.

😮😮😮 STFUUUUPPP WHAAAAAAA!

Been on meds since I was 9 and last month was the first time I ran into a road block getting it filled. I heard about a shortage, but i wasn’t having an issue until then. Finally found a place after a week.

Anywayyy I was told it was bc of the influx of telemed visits. I’m pissed.

That sucks so much ugh I’m so sorry

I have a few reasons why I haven’t started any pain meds yet but a big one is worrying about this exact thing.
