Man greys used to be peak tv for me, I kinda grew up watching the show. Katherine and Sandra carried acting wise and it was just downhill after Sandra left. Ellen really lucked out because I think she’s one of the most mediocre leading actresses out there.

Yeah, it's interesting how Katherine was one of the break-out stars of the show who got offered huge movies, but then kinda crashed and burned. Whereas Ellen stayed with the show for all those years and ended up making bank like very few actresses in television do.

To Katherine Heigl? Pissed some people off for voicing her opinion.

A series of flops at the box offices is what really burned her.

I think Ellen did a decent enough job playing Meredith but to me, Sandra was the star of the show and got some of the best storylines. It did help that Shonda's favorite character was Cristina and she did write her in part as an alter ego. She also said that in some ways Christina and Meredith were the true love story of grey's and imo without Sandra to sort of lift up ELlen, I just didn't care as much for her or the character.

I've never had any opinion on Ellen before but I've been at bitch-eating-crackers level with her since that last Actor-On-Actor segment she did with Taraji P. Henson. Good for her that she's had such great run of her career but she's so tone deaf about the immense amount of White privilege she's had as an actress to get to be where she is today. I don't doubt that she's worked hard and had to put her foot down to get her career to what it is now but she's going on about it to Taraji, as though POC women aren't stepping up enough, is so obnoxious.

I would've loved it if this were Katherine and Sandra instead but I don't think they'd be this candid about Greys since neither of them became a producer for the show.

Omg I didn’t know she showed her ass with Taraji too! She did a round table with Shonda, Viola and Kerry and the interviewer asked Shonda about that nasty article saying HTGAWM should be called how to get away with being an angry black woman and said Viola was less classically beautiful. They asked if any good came out of the backlash to the article and before Shonda and Viola could answer, Ellen said if any good comes from ignorance, she’ll take the ignorance. Viola gently pushed back and Ellen left the room crying her white lady tears. I was indifferent to her until that moment, disliked her ever since.

I need to watch this interview because what the heck does "if any good comes from ignorance, she’ll take the ignorance" even mean??? Cuz ignorance is bliss??? Idgi... but omw, that question wasn't even directed at her so whatever sense of ally-ship she thinks she's exercising is... yikes.

I wish they released the actual interview for us to watch though I bet they’d edit Ellen’s white fragility out but here’s the transcript: https://ew.com/article/2015/09/21/shondaland-roundtable-viola-davis-ellen-pompeo-kerry-washington/

Yeah... there's definitely a whole bunch of stuff that's been edited out. It's such an odd thing to tear up and leave on. But even the beginning of the interview where she says about Shonda "This may sound weird, but she’s a black woman, and I always really feel comfortable around black people. [Davis and Washington laugh.] I married a black man! And I trusted her. She had a vision for the show," this is such a weird thing to be on the receiving end of.

I want to believe that she means well but the way she navigates these race issues is so... boastful? She was like this with Taraji too; I'm not a fan of the way Ellen steered the convo, especially when Taraji was trying to share her experiences and insights.

I want to think she means well but there’s been too many instances of her slipping up for me to give her a pass. Her “it takes two to tango” comment during the height of me too and then crying about reverse racism when criticized on twitter was too much for me. She’s a mess
