A brief history:
Back in 2015 when Hamilton was the hottest ticket on Broadway with consistently sold out shows, the show held mini performances called Ham4Ham before the lottery drawing for $10 tickets. It gave us ridiculous gems like the Schuyler Georges where the three actors who had played King George (Brian d'Arcy James, Jonathan Groff, and Andrew Rannells) performing "The Schuyler Sisters."

Eventually the huge crowds started spilling out onto the street and causing traffic problems so the show switched to an online lottery system and after a year of performances, Ham4Ham came to an end.
A few weeks ago, Hamilton brought back Ham4Ham performances to showcase many of this year's Tony nominated shows. The first show featured Josh Groban, Annaleigh Ashford, and the casts of Sweeney Todd and Hamilton singing "Wait" from Sweeney Todd, "Wait for It" from Hamilton, and "Demon Barber Sweeney Todd," a parody that Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote for the 2016 Broadway Cares Easter Bonnet Competition.

The second show featured hosts Jessica Chastain and Arian Moayed from A Doll's House, Bonnie Milligan singing "Better" from Kimberly Akimbo, the Camelot cast singing "Camelot," and Hamilton alumna Phillipa Soo singing a mashup of "The Lusty Month of May" and "Take a Break."

The third show featured hosts Joshua Malina and Brandon Uranowitz from Leopoldstadt, Nikki Crawford and James Ijames from Fat Ham, and D'Arcy Carden and Chris Sullivan from The Thanksgiving Play. J. Harrison Ghee performed "You Coulda Knocked Me Over with a Feather" from Some Like It Hot (accompanied by Marc Shaiman), Ben Platt and Michaela Diamond sang "This Is Not Ovet Yet" from Parade, and the cast of Shucked performed a medley of "Corn," "We Love Jesus," and "The Story of Tonight."

The final Ham4Ham had a zillion people (there was supposed to be one more performance this week so I think they just stuffed everyone they planned to have in two performances into one). Sean Hayes from Goodnight, Oscar played Rhapsody in Blue, Jordan E. Cooper and the Ain't No Mo' cast wished the crowd a happy Pride month. KPOP composer Helen Park made an appearance, as did Corey Hawkins and Hiran Abeysekera of Life of Pi, Linedy Genao of Bad Cinderella, and Rachel Brosnahan, Oscar Isaac, and Miriam Silverman from The Sign in Sydney Brustein's Window. The cast of New York, New York performed "Light," followed by Patina Miller, Gavin Creel, Sara Bareilles, Joshua Henry, Brian d'Arcy James, and Phillipa Soo singing "Easy on Me" by Adele and "Children Will Listen" from Into the Woods. The cast of & Juliet sang a boy band medley of "Everybody," "I Want It That Way," and "It's Gonna Be Me."

The Tony Award ceremony is on Sunday, June 11. Although the WGA granted a waiver allowing the show to go on (the compromise: the Tonys agreed to do an unscripted ceremony and the WGA will not picket the show), they have asked Tony-nominated members not to attend. The WGA is asking nominees to either pre-tape an acceptance speech or have a non-member accept the award on their behalf.
